Projects by Ashwaas Pratishthan, Nashik Road.

Samangaon Old Age Home monthly check up

India lacks the necessary infrastructure in managing the burgeoning geriatric population. Ashwaas contributes to the medical needs of Matoshree Vruddhashram, an Old Age Home at Samangaon near Nashik Road by the virtue of its monthly visits, free checkup of the inmates and distribution of medicines. Started in May 2018, this visits have been uninterrupted for the last six years.

Blanket Distribution

Winters can be very chilling in Nasik. The homeless people sleeping on the banks of the Godavari  are victims of this extreme chills. Ashwaas’s humanitarian gesture of providing warm blankets to the  scantily clad homeless people goes a long way in restoring their faith in humanity.

Bi-annual Mega Medical Camps

Medical care must not be confined to those who can access it. It must reach the needy. The idea of starting a screening camp for the rural Adivasis in the remote villages in the Bhandardara valley bore fruit in November 2021. Ashwaas did a pathbreaking work of reaching out to the most needy. With the help of the forest department of Kalsubai- Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary, Ashwaas began with medical screening of the local adivasis. It soon expanded to include precision diagnostics, preventive and therapeutic medications, documentation and follow up. Many doctors from Nashik have enlisted their services and dedicate their Sundays in the service of the rural people.

The Case of Jeevika

Jeevika in many ways humbles Ashwaas. She was quite accidentally found in an otherwise routine screening. She was deprived of both hearing and speech since birth. She needed advanced surgery to correct her hearing pathway, then the installation of costly hearing aid, and finally speech therapy. Ashwaas team worked anxiously for many months by raising finance, procuring services of good surgeons and speech therapists, and yet there was no guarantee of success. But Jeevika can now listen quite normally,  articulates words, and is on the way to being a completely normal, productive human being with a meaningful life.

Cataract Surgeries

At every Ashwaas camp, pioneering work is done by Dr Sunil Shejwal, Mr Sandeep More and their team. Cataract is a the commonest cause of blindness in this part of the world. Ashwaas not only diagnose, but also provides free cataract surgeries at Dr Shejwal's hospital at Pimpalgaon Baswant.

Right to education

Ashwaas accidentally stumbled upon the fact that the government’s Right to free Education for girls ends after Std VIII. As a result, many deserving girls from poor families had to leave school. Ashwaas, in coordination with the Education Department of Municipal Corporation Nashik has ensured that 44 such girls could complete their secondary school without interruption. Their fees were provided by Ashwaas.

The Waterhole Project-preserving the nature

Compassion knows no bounds. In the scorching summer heat all the natural water sources dry up here. The plight of animals is hapless. Many die due to severe dehydration. Ashwaas raised funds and dug a waterhole in a carefully identified spot, easily accessible to the thirsty animals. Trap cameras have revealed the joy in the eyes of the satisfied deers.

Squint correction and plastic surgery camp

Since last 25 years, Rotary Club Of Deolali conducts a free squint correction and plastic surgery camp for poor and deprived people. Ashwaas has joined hands with Rotary Club Of Deolali in identifying, transporting and treating such patients.
